October 18 - Jurors are unable to reach a verdict in the trial of Jerry Trussell. He is charged with 1st degree murder and solicitation in the death of Punky Herrod. Prosecutors say Trussell helped kill Herrod in exchange for sexual favors from Herrod's wife. Punky's body was never found, but his wife and Jerry Trussell's wife are already serving time for the 10 year old murder as part of plea deals. Kelly Herrod says Jerry told her to leave the house the night Punky was killed. That's when he allegedly held Punky down while Tammy fired the fatal shot.

The jury told the judge they could not make a decision for guilt or innocence, leading him to declare a mistrial. Prosecutors say they plan to re-try the case.
