A recent email making the rounds claims there’s an amazing 9/11 memorial in New Jersey that was given to the United States by Russia.
Jennifer Jones of Minneapolis, Kansas received the email, and wants to know if it’s true. Did Russia build a huge memorial on U.S. soil to remember the victims of the 9/11 attacks? Good question.
The email is titled “Teardrop Memorial” and includes pictures of an amazing structure on the peninsula at Bayonne Harbor in New Jersey. It says, “Have you ever heard of this? A memorial donated by Russia. Why didn’t the press report it?”
According to snopes.com, the email is real and it was donated by Russia, designed by a well-known Russian artist.
The memorial was dedicated on September 11, 2006. Former President Clinton and Russian President Vladimir Putin both attended the event. LeAnn Rimes sang the national anthem for the dedication.
The overall scope of 9/11, along with the numerous events held all over the country on the five-year anniversary, most likely watered down the amount of media coverage the memorial received.
The memorial goes by many names: the Teardrop Memorial, the Tear of Grief and its actual title, the Struggle Against World Terrorism.
