A 47-year-old Bird City man is dead after crashing his car into a semi truck Tuesday afternoon in northwestern Kansas.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says Alan Chumley was driving west on U.S. 36 in Cheyenne County, when a 54-year-old semi truck driver was heading in the opposite direction. Chumley crossed the center line and collided head-on with the semi.
Chumley was pronounced dead moments later. The semi truck driver refused emergency treatment.
