Kansas Republicans are hoping Vice President Dick Cheney can bring in a half million dollars in campaign contributions.
Cheney appears Monday at a luncheon in Wichita.
Kansas visits by administration officials are rare. Both President Bush and Cheney have visited Kansas City, but on the Missouri side.
Wichita visits are even less common. Vice President Al Gore visited Wichita in 1999 after the deadly Haysville tornado.
The last Republican vice president to visit Wichita was Spiro Agnew in 1970.
The party has sent more than 3,000 invitations for the $1,000-a-plate lunch.
