The Mulvane City Council is not giving up on efforts to attract a casino to the Sumner County town.

After the Kansas House on Monday rejected one land annexation by Mulvane, the city council on Monday night approved annexation of a second potential casino site.

Mulvane Mayor Jim Ford said the second annexation should not raise legal objections, as the first annexation did.

The Kansas House approved a bill earlier Monday to retroactively block an annexation by Mulvane for the Turnpike casino site.

The state has reopened the bidding process for a Sumner County casino, setting an April 1 deadline for proposals to be submitted to the Kansas Lottery.
