The Chanute Police Department is currently investigating the injuries to a 3-month-old child.

On January 21st, Denton J. Marrs was taken to Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center for emergency medical care. It was first believed as reported that the child was going to be transported to Children's Mercy but soon thereafter learned that the child was being taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, having sustained serious injuries to his head.

Investigators from the Chanute Police Department traveled to Wichita and in conjunction with Detectives from the Wichita Police Department investigated the circumstances surrounding the injuries to the child.

Last night Adam J. Marrs, 23, was taken into custody by investigators for Felony Child Abuse. Marrs was transported to Neosho County and is currently being held at the Neosho County Jail pending formal arraignment and filing of charges. The investigation is ongoing at this time with case reports being sent to the Neosho County Attorney.
