Local Bartender Talks About Over the Top Tip
Sept. 1--Cindy Kieno proudly displays a copy of the receipt that will make her $10,000 richer. The Applebee's bartender says she plans to frame it on her wall.
Kieno was working at the restaurant Sunday afternoon, when one of her regulars came in for a meal and a few drinks. She says he's always been a pretty good tipper; just a few weeks ago, he left behind $100.
This time, Kieno says, the man waived her down to the end of the bar, pushed the tab toward her, and said he wanted her to see it, so she would know he meant for her to have the money. On the bill of $26.97, he had written in a tip of $10,000 on the receipt.
Kieno calls it a nice surprise that she feels honored and blessed to have received. As for her spending plans, she plans to "tear it up" in Las Vegas, as well as help her father get through knee surgery. If there are any leftovers, Kieno says she wants to buy a Jeep.
