The second of the Iranian twins born joined at the head has died, shortly after the two were separated.
A nurse involved in the surgery in Singapore says Laleh Bijani died hours after her sister Ladan and that everyone involved "is crying."
The 29-year-old twins had doctors attempt the separation, even though they knew they could both lose their lives. Ladan Bijani had said if God wanted them to live separately, they would.
She was the first to die, doctors say from a heavy loss of blood.
Hospital officials have yet to formally announce the second death. But the nurse says the losses are like the deaths of family members.
The two women lived at the hospital for seven months in preparation for the surgery.
