Wichita police have made an arrest in the city's latest homicide.
Police found a body in a remote area of Grove Park. And it appears a Wichita family's worst nightmare has come true.
Late Thursday afternoon, police arrested an 18-year-old for first degree murder in connection with the case. Police have not positively identified the victim, but they strongly believe it is a 16-year old West High School student who has been missing for about 10 days.
Police found the body partially buried in a shallow grave. They combed the area around the park for any evidence.
A tip to officers investigating the disappearance of the West High student led police to Grove Park.
Wichita Police Captain Nelson Mosley says, "The tips that have been rolling in have been detailed information, one location that led us to this park, that was one bit of information we received, and after officers walked the area, a body was located."
Maurice Williams lived just a couple of blocks from the park. His family spent time at the park Thursday. They tell us they believe he's the victim of this homicide.
Police want to wait for the coroner's report before they positively identify the victims and tell us how he died.
