Newman University has announced plans to build a new library on the Wichita campus, after structural problems twice forced closure of the existing library.
The private, Catholic liberal arts school also announced plans Monday to tear down the building housing Ryan Library. School officials say details of the demolition have not been determined.
The decision to proceed with a new building came Friday, at the Newman board of directors meeting.
The board will determine by fall how to proceed with a building to replace the two-story library that closed for the first time in October, re-opened in January and closed again last month.
