Residents in Marion County are being told to conserve water due to health concerns about an algae bloom.
Hillsboro closed its water plant earlier this week because they suspect the algae growing in Marion Lake may be producing a toxin. Officials aren't sure if the water system can filter the toxin out.
Water is now being piped in to Hillsboro from McPherson, but it's in limited supply. Residents of Hillsboro and Peabody are being told to limit their use of water this weekend.
City administrator Steve Garrett says hopefully this will be a short term problem.
