Lawrence Police Officer Hit By Fleeing Vehicle
On Tuesday, December 02, just after 11:15 a.m., Lawrence Police responded to a call in reference to an aggravated burglary in progress in the 3100 block of Tomahawk.

On Tuesday, December 02, just after 11:15 a.m., Lawrence Police
responded to a call in reference to an aggravated burglary in progress in
the 3100 block of Tomahawk.

The suspect fled before officers arrived but a suspect vehicle description was obtained from the victim. Lawrence Police located and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle leaving the area.

A pursuit ensued and led officers into the western part of Douglas County.
In a joint effort with the Kansas Highway Patrol and Douglas County
Sheriff’s Office, Lawrence Police pursued and apprehended a female
suspect just after 12:15 p.m.

The suspect is also wanted for questioning in reference to a series of Tuesday morning burglaries. During the pursuit, one LPD officer was injured when he was struck while outside his vehicle.

The officer was transported to a Kansas City area hospital and is in stable
condition. No further information is available at this time.
