A multi-million dollar Hot Lotto jackpot has been hit in Kansas! One ticket in the Saturday, November 29 Hot Lotto drawing matched all numbers to win a $12.2 million jackpot. The jackpot-winning ticket was sold in south central Kansas. The winning numbers are 7-14-22-24-38 Hot Ball 2.
The south central Kansas region where the ticket was sold includes these 15 counties: Barton, Rice, McPherson, Marion, Stafford, Reno, Harvey, Pratt, Kingman, Sedgwick, Butler, Barber, Harper, Sumner, and Cowley.
“Needless to say, we’re excited that the Hot Lotto jackpot has been hit in Kansas,” said Lottery Executive Director Ed Van Petten. “Now we’re just waiting for the lucky winner to come forward to claim the prize that will make him or her a multi-millionaire.”
This is the third Hot Lotto jackpot hit in Kansas and the second highest. Lori Boyle of Independence claimed a $12.9 million jackpot in the July 4, 2007, Hot Lotto drawing, and a $5.26 million Hot Lotto jackpot was claimed by a Pittsburg resident in the May 31, 2008, drawing.
The $12.2 Hot Lotto jackpot from the November 29 drawing may be claimed at Lottery headquarters in Topeka, or the Lottery’s regional office in Great Bend. The winner has 365 days from the date of the drawing to claim the jackpot. Then he or she will have to decide whether to take the annuity option or the cash option. The cash option would give the winner a single payment of $8.04 million, minus mandatory income withholding taxes. The annuity option would provide 25 payments over 24 years, minus taxes.
Hot Lotto is played in 13 lottery jurisdictions: District of Columbia, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and West Virginia. Drawings are held Wednesdays and Saturdays. Hot Lotto jackpots start at $1 million and continue to grow until someone wins. The last time a Hot Lotto jackpot was hit was July 2, 2008, when a player from Oklahoma won $2.12 million.
