i even had renters insurance for the year in which i moved in with my parents when i first got divorced...i can pay 15.00 a month and have peace of mind knowing that i am covered in the event someone catchs another apartment on fire...yes the owners have insurance....no..your stuff is not covered under their policy....and i get a discount on my auto ...due to multiple polices...
I live across the street from a house that burned down in May. One of the women that lived there said she had a dream that the house she was renting caught fire and told her roommates that they should go and get it. They never did and they lost everything. They had four dogs and two bearded dragons and only one dog got out. The landlord is just going to tear down the building. My husband had renter's insurance when he had his apartment, and even though nothing tragic ever happened, at least we were covered.
I have had renters insurance for a year now and I don't know why I didn't get it sooner. It's not very expensive and it does give peace of mind know that you are covered. I highly recommend it to all my friends and everyone else I get into a conversation with about it. I also got a bit of a discount on my auto insurance with it also. So that's more of an incentive to look into it.
