The Kansas pilot of a small aircraft missing since early Monday died when it crashed in northeast South Dakota.
The Codington County sheriff says the gyrocopter went down about two miles northeast of South Shore in a remote, hilly pasture. The site is northeast of Watertown.
John Barr of Marion, Kansas, was flying the two-seater from Kansas to Sisseton, near the North Dakota border. Barr re-fueled in Sioux Falls Sunday evening and had been missing since.
His body was found this afternoon.
The Civil Air Patrol says the aircraft was last seen on radar about where it went down.
A gyrocopter has both a blade like a helicopter and a propeller like an airplane.
