Police say it might be one of the boldest acts by a rapist they have seen in years, a woman is attacked in broad daylight in a department store parking lot near a busy intersection.
The men responsible are still on the loose and no witnesses have come forward.
It happened in the Gordman's parking lot at Central and Ridge Thursday afternoon around 1 p.m. Police say a woman got out of her car and was going into the store. She told officers she was grabbed from behind and blindfolded. Then another man, possibly two other men forced her into a van and raped her.
Police are not sure if the alleged rapists even left the parking lot. They say once the act was finished, they left the victim there.
It's a bold act, even by police standards. Wichita police Lt. Thomas Bridges says, "That sends out some flags for us we are dealing with some pretty potentially bad people here."
Wichita shopper Jurelle Cobb says, "The main concern is that you're not free to be out on the street to go shopping, sightseeing, or whatever without that fear that you have to watch your back."
