A man spotted yesterday at a west Topeka truck stop was not the Missouri resident the FBI wants to question about a missing Oklahoma girl.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation had a tip that 56-year-old Presley Earl Hood of Branson was seen at the truck stop with a young girl and was later driving west on a Topeka street.
The FBI wants to question Hood about the Friday disappearance of 10-year-old Shawnda Marie Cheney of Stillwater. Federal agents say Shawnda befriended Hood at a birthday party for a relative of his in Stillwater, about three months ago.
Though the KBI described the source as credible, it determined a few hours later that person actually spotted was a Topeka area resident, with his granddaughter.
