Due to the recent heavy rains across Central and South Central Kansas, Cow Creek, Arkansas River and Ninnescah River levels are rising in the Reno County area.
All residents along and near these rivers, and anyone living in the flood plain are advised to take precautions against flooding and be prepared to evacuate should the need arise. Currently there are no roads or areas that are closed, but water levels are being monitored and areas that are deemed unsafe will be closed.
Residents are warned to not drive down roads that are covered with water. You don’t know what the condition of the road under that water is. Do not drive around barricades when roads are closed its not safe, and it is illegal. They are closed for a reason. As our friends at the weather service tell us, “Turn Around, Don’t Drown”.
