A Butler County woman was killed early Friday when her vehicle was struck by a lawn service truck. Saturday, the Butler County Sheriff's Department identified the victim as 56-year-old Linda Tjarks of rural Rose Hill.

The accident happened around 6:55 a.m. Friday on SW 180th and Prairie Creek Road, northeast of Rose Hill.

Butler County Sheriff Craig Murphy said the truck, driven by 26-year-old Brian Springer, did not stop at a stop sign and struck Tjarks' 2008 Mazda passenger car broadside. Tjarks died at the scene. Springer was taken to a Wichita hospital for treatment.

HAZMAT crews were dispatched to the scene and worked to contain a pool of herbicide in the ditch from the lawn service truck.

Sheriff Investigators are still investigating as well as KHP Motor Carrier Troopers. Investigators will be conferring with the Butler County Attorney next week as to possible charges being filed.
