The United Way of the Plains has announced that it has raised $3.2 million dollars so far this year for it's annual fund raising campaign. The charity set a goal of $16.8 million dollars earlier this year.
Spokesman Delaine Butler says most companies taking part in the fund raiser are still in the midst of their employee campaigns. With five weeks remaining in its fall fund-raising campaign, United Way continues working to reach its $16,800,000 goal to fund needed community services.

Capitol Federal raised $47,574.
City of Derby raised $12,060
Daland Corporation raised $17,363
Johnson Controls raised to date $7,060
KAKE TV raised $4,164
Kansas Credit Union Association raised $3,954.
Knipp Equipment?Kansas Trane raised $11,961.
Medical Society of Sedgwick County Inc. raised $9,825.
Senior Aerospace Composites raised $24,508.
SNB Bank of Wichita raised $6,322.
Target Store #1944 in Northeast Wichita raised $11,971
USD 402 Augusta Public Schools raised $2,258
Hundreds of companies are still in the process of running company campaigns for United Way. The 2008 fund-raising campaign continues until November 13 when final results will be announced at a report luncheon at Century II.
United Way of the Plains brings the community together to focus on the building blocks of a better life for all: education (helping children and youth achieve their potential), income (promoting financial stability and independence), and health (improving people?s health). United Way raises funds, works with coalitions, writes grants, recruits volunteers and distributes in-kind gifts. United Way helps people find needed services through the United Way 2?1?1 information line and helps match people to volunteer opportunities through the United Way Volunteer Center.
