3 hurt in head-on crash on U.S. 54 Highway

PRATT, Kan. — Three people were hurt in a head-on crash Monday night in Pratt County.

The crash happened just before 8:30 p.m. Monday on U.S. 54 near Rancho Road, at the western edge of Pratt. According to the Pratt County Sheriff's Office, a Ford Crown Victoria went left of center and hit a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Rescue crews extricated the driver and passenger from the Jeep and they were taken to a Pratt hospital. Both were later transferred by ambulance to a Wichita hospital for further treatment.

They've been identified as 26-year-old Shannon Edwards-Smith, who was driving, and 27-year-old Alexis George, both of Mexico, Missouri.

The driver of the Ford, 40-year-old Jason Smith of Tipton, Oklahoma, was airlifted from the scene and taken to a Wichita hospital.

The current condition of the three victims is not currently available.

The crash is under investigation.
