A review board has chosen an Olathe company to run the state-owned casino in Ford County.

The Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board chose Butler National Service over Dodge City Resort and Gaming.

It's one of four state-owned casinos that's planned. The decision about Ford County had been delayed a week because board members weren't sure either applicant had adequate financing with the markets in turmoil.

The board has picked managers for three of the four casinos created by law last year. It picked Harrah's Entertainment Inc. for Sumner County and a partnership that includes Kansas Speedway and Cordish Company, of Baltimore, for Wyandotte County.

It also picked Penn National Gaming Inc. for Cherokee County but Penn walked away from the deal, saying it couldn't compete with a nearby Oklahoma tribal casino.
