Wichita State University's track and field coach wants to get the entire community in shape. He is holding early morning workouts at Cessna Stadium for anyone and anybody.
Around 35 people gathered at Cessna Stadium at 5:45 Wednesday morning to work out under the instruction of WSU track coach Steve Rainbolt.
"I know when the alarm goes off, get up immediately and do Shocker Fitness with Coach Bolt," shouts Rainbolt.
The program is modeled after a similar fitness program in Lawrence called Red Dog's Dog Days. It was started 25 years ago, and at times there are up to 1,000 people showing up to work out.
"Our effort to establish a community fitness program for all ages, all men and women and all fitness levels," said Rainbolt.
Keith Dome is making the early morning workout part of his routine.
"It's a great idea, motivation to come out for an appointment. We are out here to achieve the same goals," said Dome.
Shocker Fitness started this week. All ages and all fitness levels are invited to join. The workouts run Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5:45 a.m. to 6:45 a.m. The 10 week program costs $45.
To sign up, show up at Cessna Stadium 15 minutes before class begins or click the Get Fit link below.
