Year after year, the Walnut Valley Festival draws huge crowds. This year, heavy rains brought change to the flooded festival, but the fans refused to let it dampen their enthusiasm.
The festival's events will go on as scheduled at the Cowley County Fairgrounds, minus the campers.
Friday's heavy rains caused the Walnut River to threaten to fill the fairgrounds with water.
Workers are quickly cleaning up the mud and expect to be finished in time for the festival to officially begin Thursday.
Most of the campers relocated to the Winfield City Lake about 10 miles northeast of the city.
