Something fishy here.... I think you both are right.
At least the driver went back! With all the hit and run incidents in Wichita, I think he deserves some credit. Besides, we don’t even know the time period he was gone for.
Not necessarily- If given the benefit of the doubt, the mind has strange ways of dealing with traumatic events such as this. He may not have known at all what he hit, or he may have known what he hit, and just was fearful of what punishment he'd have to suffer. Guilt probably took over, or something might have snapped him out of shock long enough to realize what he had done. Either way, the point is that he went back and reported it. Too late, yes, but he could have left and never looked back. The man that was on the turnpike shouldn't have been walking there at all. If your car breaks down on the highway, walk DOWN the embankment and keep going until you hit a street, please don't walk on the highway. I've seen probably 8 people (not transients) walking away from, or back to their cars this past week on Kellogg, and on 235. Those cars can be replaced, our loved ones cannot. I hope the families of both men can find some comfort.
I totally agree Ms. Obvious... I had the exact same thought after reading this.
::rolls eyes:: He was probably drunk and had to wait to sober up enough to call the police. Even if you think you've only hit a deer, you'd still pull over to see what the damage was.
