A 41-year-old man called police just after 5 a.m. Sunday telling them he had hit a person with his vehicle while entering the turnpike at K-15.
When Kansas Highway Patrol officials arrived on the scene, they did find a victim with fatal injuries.
Lt. Dave Albers with KHP says the accident occurred earlier in the morning. The man driving the vehicle said he believed he hit a deer. When he got home, however, he kept thinking about the incident and returned to the scene to check. He claims it was then that he knew he had hit a person.
No information about the victim was available.
