Fort Riley and 1st Infantry Division leaders will hold an observance Sept. 11 to mark the 2001 terrorist attack on the United States.
The event begins at 7:46 a.m., the moment the first aircraft struck New York's World Trade Center towers. Army leaders will remember the 155 soldiers, sailors and airmen deployed from Fort Riley who have been killed in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The names of the dead will be added to Fort Riley's Global War on Terrorism Monument near the U.S. Cavalry Museum.
Brig. Gen. Perry Wiggins, commander of the 1st Infantry, is scheduled to make remarks followed by the ringing of a bell in honor of all who died during the 2001 attacks. There also will be a laying of a wreath at the monument and a 21-gun salute.
