New President Takes Helm Of Downtown Development Group

The Wichita Downtown Development Corp., Board of Directors is pleased to announce Jeff Fluhr as the new President of the organization. Flurh will begin his position September 15, 2008.

"The Board chose Jeff because of his passion for downtown development and his vast experience with revitalization," stated Joe Johnson, Board President.

Fluhr was formerly the Assistant Executive Director for the Downtown Development District in Baton Rouge, Louisana. He led a public and private sector initiative to implement Plan Baton Route, the master plan to revitalize Downtown Baton Rouge.

While in Baton Rouge, Fluhr led organizational efforts for the Downtown Visitors’ Amenity Plan and the Riverfront Master Plan. In addition, he oversaw the construction of the existing 3,000 linear feet Riverfront Promenade, The Baton Rouge River Center Glatting Jackson Financial Feasibility (expansion and parking requirements) and managed studies for improvements to the New River District.

"This is a very exciting time for Wichita," Fluhr said, "with projects such as the Intrust Bank Arena and the WaterWalk development in full swing; I am looking forward to working with all Downtown Wichita stakeholders in fostering, developing and implementing the community’s vision for Downtown.”
