There are many birthday gifts that can bring a smile to a 9-year-old girl's face. But one Garden City girl receiving no gifts on her birthday is making her and some of her four-legged friends very happy.
When Kylee Hipp's mom asked her what she wanted for her birthday, Kylee said she didn't want anything for herself. She only wanted people to bring gifts for the animals at the Humane Society.
Kylee got what she wanted for her birthday.
"I feel bad for them because they don't have a home yet," Kylee said.
Her good deed is motivating others. Her little brother Connor is already planning on what to do for his birthday.
"I think kids my age, Connor's age and any age should be happy to help the Humane society," Kylee said.
Kylee's parents say they didn't do anything special to make her into such a giving child.
"It's just the way Kylee has always been," her mom said.
