The 511 Traveler Information website, 511.ksdot.org, will be temporarily unavailable beginning as early as this afternoon through Wednesday, August 27, 2008, in order to test the changes made to the site this summer.

The 511 Web site should be fully available on Thursday, August 28 to provide travelers information for the upcoming holiday weekend.

While the site is down, travelers can get construction, detour and weather information by calling 5-1-1 from anywhere in Kansas or 1-866-511-KDOT (5368) from anywhere in the U.S.

All road condition information on the Kansas 511 Phone System will also be in test mode during this time so road condition information will not be available. However, KDOT anticipates that roads should have normal, seasonal driving conditions during this time.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our traveling public; however, we do want to be certain changes made to the site will work satisfactorily when released to the public later this fall,” said Brian Logan, KDOT spokesperson.
