Shelly...it's time for you to turn in your key to the Chamber Of Commerce,if they allow you to talk all this trash, then they all need to turn in their keys. You have made us all look bad. Now we have to rebuild, because of your stupid statements.

Shelly..YOU SHOULD MOVE TO ANOTHER STATE...YOU HAVE HURT OUR GOOD CITY NAME, BY YOUR STATEMENTS..I AM SURE THERE ARE ENOUGH PEOPLE IN WELLINGTON, WOULD BE HAPPY TO HELP YOU PACK, AND FILL YOUR GAS TANK TO LEAVE TOWN...

I love how people are telling Wellington residents to stop whining, but I recall a few months back when Mulvane was whining because they weren't getting the casino and THEY had voted it out, but its funny there whining got them what they wanted maybe we should try their childesh ways and maybe we will get what we want.

The fact is: if the casinos did not see profit written on every forehead that walked into their establishment, they would not be in business. Their profit means your loss. The only way these businesses are able to operate is if you loose money. You can rationalize it any way you wish, but as long as you go broke, the casinos profit. And who really loses? Kids! Kids will loose, as their daddy and mommy spend time sitting on a stool, trying to win toys. I know, I come from Northern California; I have spent enough time in Tahoe and Reno to see this happen. People would travel 100 miles from Sacramento to Reno, only to loose what money they had to get home. What I want to know is the rise in crime rate to the now rural, farming communities as US 81 and 119st South? When this resort moves in, who will move in with it? Crime will rise - is that something you'd welcome into your community? Or allow to be forced upon you? Wellington - if you WANT the casino, then build in Welling!

I don't care how nice of a resort Harrah's is, fact is that the bigger and fancier they can build a hotel/casino with overpriced lights and carpet means nothing to me. The more they invest in their building is that much more they take from our pockets. I'll continue going to Ok with my money and besides I bet when and if the casino even opens in Sumner county the Ok casino's will be paying out extra to keep the Kansas folk coming there instead of Harrah's.

Sumner County said that they wanted what was best for the entire county. However, when they only endorced the two proposels from Wellington they displayed the fact that they really wanted what was best for Wellington and not the county or state. What was done afterwards by the city of Mulvane wasn't unethical or unlawful. What it really did was make Hansel, Wetta and others in Wellington mad. Hansel saying that this was fixed from the start? Well, she might be right. However, she did everything she could to "fix" it to go the direction she wanted it to go. Wetta will not get my vote as he was really out for his buddies down in Wellington and the fact that he is mad that a $550 million dollar casino is going to built in his district just proves it. Wasn't the lawyer that conultant with Sumner county attached to Penn-National? Also, isn't the land that would have been use to build the casino site near Wellington owed by those on Sumner County's Board? Please respond if you know.

Wherever the casino ends up going someone is going to whine. Stop the whining and the trash talking. It will not fix anything.

I think its a case of "the pot calling the kettle black"when accusing Mulvane leaders of "dirty politics". If the county commissioners who lie in & around Wellington were so inclined to feel they made the best choice. then why would they need to take legal action against Mulvane & why would a state representative try to get a law enacted to prevent Mulvane's annexation & make it retroactive to when the annexation was filed? Also, why didn't the Sumner county commissioners submit all 4 bids to the state?

This is a rip off for the residents of our county

i sit here on my front porch reading these comments we all know wellington got shafted on this its as plain as day. Mulvane can celebrate all you want but the lawsuits still remain even if sumner county drops theirs its very doutful that the praire band will.good luck with that one.And as for 2 bus loads of supporters lol there isnt that many on the sumner side.so in short i will at least be able to continue to enjoy this peace and quiet that i am now

are you kidding me? reading these comments makes me laugh. Alot of your false ideas about a casino come from movies. This isn't hollywood people. Have you ever been to a casino? Ever seen the security on and around the property. I haven't seen too many houses for sale around a casino. So Mulvane got a casino, good. No more driving 4 hours to KC or down to the casino's in oklahoma. Now money can be spent in the area. If Harrah's was so horrible, how did they become a national chain? Before anyone points fingers about what happened up at Topeka, maybe you should find out why they quit being affiliated with the indians up there. Face reality folks, this is a good thing for Sumner County and all of South Central Kansas. Congratulations Mulvane, you've been a growing town, now you will be able to grow even more. All you whiner's in Wellington make it look bad on everyone. You're complaining and trash talking won't change anything.

Wasn't it Shelly Hansen being interviewed on tv about the decision and she seemed extra mad and said nobody cared what the council thought and she was disgusted to be a Kansan right now, then she needs to move to another state and watch what she says on tv.

The casino was to benefit Kansas, not just Wellington. The Wellington endorsements were biased. Harrahs best fits the criteria the State spelled out. The county and both towns now need to work together. Sumner County & Wellington need to be gracious and endorse Harrahs at exit 33. The money spent fighting this could be put to better use.
