Cliff is right. There was a similar episode recently involving a man whos girlfriend called police and stated he was trying to commit suicide. Upon police and ems arrival the man was drunk and asleep in his own bed! Then to make matters worse he was still brought into my ER for evaluation because of everything. Guess what the diagnosis was.....man-drunk, girlfriend-crazy.

I just want to know if the guy even new he was in a standoff with police. he never pointed a gun, shouted, or threatened police, what standoff? he came out peacefully when asked on the phone. the news makes it sound like there were guns blazing, and lots of danger. a couple of months ago, there was a "standoff" with a guy who was asleep in his house and didnt know that there was one.

You know, I see your point Cliff, yet I feel like it's better safe then sorry. Let's say the woman had called one of his friends to go talk to him because he wouldn't answer the phone. But when the friend got there, the man was distraught/drunk?? and he fired at his friend or whom ever checked on him. If so, we would be asking why something wasn't done/handled by the proper authorities. While I respect your thoughts, I still think better safe, than sorry. These days, you never know.

It sure seems like an easy way to ruin somones day, call the cops, say someone is upset and has a gun. the cops show up, call swat, sometimes evacuate neighbors, then call to try to get him to come out with a lot of guns pointed at him. wasnt there one a while back where the guy was asleep and had no idea what was going on? why not a simple phone call first before calling swat?
