A 31-year-old Great Bend man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting at his home, police said.

Police were called to the home about a shooting at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to Great Bend Police Chief Dean Akings. He said when police arrived, they found an occupant of the home standing in the front yard. Akings said the man told police he had shot an intruder.

An unidentified male was found shot to death inside the house, police said.

"We didn't believe his story enough to not make an arrest," Akings said. He said the man was arrested on suspicion of homicide.

The victim's identity had not been released Wednesday.

Police declined to offer additional information about the shooting.

The case remains under investigation at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the Great Bend Police Department at (620) 793-4120.
