Derby City Council Member Charlie Schwarz has announced that he will resign from the City Council effective August 13. A reception will be held in his honor at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12 (prior to the City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m.) at City Hall, 611Mulberry Rd. The public is invited to attend.

His decision to resign was due to the recent sale of his home in Derby.
Schwarz was appointed to the Ward III seat in June 2004 and elected as
the Ward III representative in April 2005. Prior to his appointment to the City Council, Schwarz was a member of the SOAC Team (Supporters of
an Aquatic Park) and was instrumental in establishing Rock River Rapids. He was also a member of the Aquatic Park Design Committee.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed serving my community at such an exciting
time in Derby's history," said Schwarz. "The volunteers and staff
who work for the City are second to none. I'm proud to have served
with them."

The Mayor is accepting applications for the Ward III position through
August 22. Applications are available at City Hall and on the City
website, www.derbyweb.com. Applications should be returned to Carolyn Morrison at 611 Mulberry Rd. Please contact Morrison with questions at 788-3132 or via email at carolynmorrison@derbyweb.com.
