The summer heat is making things tough on people across the state and now some local streets have buckled from the stress.
Local roads simply cannot take the heat that's settled in the area and they are literally exploding.
Tom Hein with the Kansas Department of Transportation says, "Concrete gets to the point where it just it's gotta go somewhere and it generally goes up."
Street temperatures can reach well over 115 degress. That causes the concrete to expand. When the concrete gives, the pavement blows up.
"And we know some blowups will happen today we just don't know where yet." Hein said.
