A former children's gymnastics coach in southeast Kansas has pleaded no contest to a child-sex charge and guilty to failure to register as a sex offender, both felonies.

Glenn Keeton, of Riverton, will be sentenced September 16th. The 43-year-old Keeton entered into a plea agreement as jury selection was about to begin in his trial in Cherokee County.

Keeton pleaded no contest to lewd and lascivious behavior in the presence of a child in an incident with a 12-year-old girl at his home on May 27, 2007. A charge of aggravated indecent liberties with a child was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

Prosecutors dropped three of four charges of failing to register as a sex offender. Keeton has a 1993 conviction in California for lewd action with a 10-year-old child.
