County Budget Could Mean Tax Cuts At Jail's Expense
Sedgwick County's 2009 budget may bring some tax cuts, but they may come at the expense of plans to expand the county jail.

I would bet you 25-50 percent are in there on drug charges. Most of it probably marajunia. WHY??? Because the goverment and the city make money on them. The more people in, the more they get.

This is a start! We need to stop paying to jail nonviolent offenders and stop releasing dangerous ones to make room!

$11 dollars a year? Thanks Bill you are too kind. How about bill stops getting raises every year. It was brought up in the last debate for Sheriff how much the director of the KBI made in relation to the Sheriff of Sedgwick County. How about we post how much little bill makes, his generous raises over the last 3 years and how corrupt the property taxes are. My house increased 10,000 dollars in tax value, I live in D4 so I doubt that is accurate. However, bill's house did not increase near that amount and I promise he does not live anywhere near D4, short of putting his address on here I challenge you all to look into it. We need to get rid of Bill. The jail needs expansion. We need to start giving time for violent offenders. Why are people pulling drive bys getting probation and people who drive on suspended licenses getting 90 days for 3rd conviction? There is more corruption than you know. Just a little more hard evidence and I will be ready for my KAKE exclusive interview.

I invite the commissioners to spend more than 48 hours on concrete in booking because they have no beds to move you into. Plus how much is it costing us to send inmates out to other counties as opposed to expanding our jail?
