Kansas Highway Patrol and investigators continue their search for the driver
suspected of cutting off a motorcycle early Saturday morning, critically
injuring the bike's driver and killing his passenger.

Patty Gilman and her husband, Greg, were crossing the I-235/I-135 interchange in North Wichita when authorities say a blue or green Dodge 4-door car cut them off, which sent their bike into the guardrail.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said that the car may have been a Dodge Intrepid or Stratus with a clean temporary tag. They believe the car may have been purchased within the last week.

Patty Gilman died at the scene. Greg Gilman remains in critical condition
at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.

Authorities say it's possible the driver never realized what happened.

Although it would have been hard to not hear the screech of the tires and the sound of the crash, it's possible the driver failed to see the motorcycle as he
merged into the Gilman's lane. They also say it appears the bike and car
did not touch. Authorities want to remind drivers to be on heightened alert
during the summer months when more bikers are on the roads.

A memorial fund has been set up in Patty Gilman's name. Donations can be sent to:

Chisholm Trail State Bank
6160 N. Broadway
Wichita, KS 67219

Anybody with information in the case is urged to call Highway Patrol at
(316) 744-0451.

The Gilman's are members of the Jeeps Cycle Club in Wichita. You can learn
