The man who was the subject of a nationwide manhunt has been charged in connection with the kidnapping of a Viola convenience store clerk.
Robert Abner made his first appearance in Sedgwick County District Court this afternoon. Prosecutors charged Abner with Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Robbery, 2 counts of Aggravated Criminal Sodomy, and six counts of rape.
Abner was arrested at a Springfield, Oregon motel last week.
Judge Eric Yost set Abner's bond at $500,000.
His preliminary hearing has been set for July 28th.
