I love how some of us think that if we get control of the middle east we will have free or cheaper oil. We always hear reasons why oil is so high like speculation or the green movement not letting us drill. We never hear "hey America...Your dollar is depreciating as we speak and when your currency is worth less it takes more of it to buy oil. Take a look at the the signs like stores in New York are accepting Euros. That's not a good sign people. The politicians keep telling us everything is OK while our economy is going to you know where in a hand basket. Meanwhile the high-ups are dropping their dollars for stronger and more stable currencies and buying land in Dubai. Brace yourself America. Remember the great depression was not a depression at all, it was a transfer of wealth. We need to wake people up, not play nascar on the streets.

If anybody listens or reads these things, I highly recomend to DO NOT TAILGATE A SEMI TRUCK!! Saving a bit on your gas bill does not constitute as a legitamite reason to risk your life or the life of others!! If you cannot see the TD's mirrors YOU ARE TOO CLOSE! Do not interfere with these people's jobs. Give them plenty of room for yours and everyone's sakes!!

Anonymous that posted at 11:21 am... All drivers on the road deserve respect but that larger vehicle can crush your car like a soda can, and you with it. I suggest you go ride in a semi before you open your mouth, you may be enlightened.

Yep, still tail-gating even with a different name. I've noticed that it's gotten bad as of late when going on west Kellogg. Been couple few accidents as of late just on Kellogg alone...

I agree with the "wife of a trucker" resepect all on the road even the average size car has it's blind spots. For the one that thinks truckers own the road maybe next time when you go to the store and what wanted to purchase its not there is because the trucker that "was"hauling in the product "you want" was in a accident because of a tailgater. People we all need to respect eachother on the road regardless, you could actually save a life or two.

I don't care where you have to go, how late you are, and how high gas is, it's not worth my life our yours so drive like you have sense. And if you tailgate me I'm going to slow down on purpose...I love to do that.

it should go both ways you want us to give the truckers the respect they deserve then so should they. most think that they own the road because they are in a larger vehicle.

It's not called drafting it's called TAIL-GATING....Drafting a semi at 60 MPH has little effect on your MPG. Now if you are doing 190 MPG then drafting would be more conservative. Haven't you people ever watched Mythbusters.

tailgating has always been ileagle it is called following too close. will they NOW start writing tickets for this?

If you got it, a trucker brought it. The most basic necessities of life (and pretty much anything you own including the materials that built your home and your car) are brought to you by these hard working guys and gals. If you think trucking is a simple job, you thought wrong. It's complex and dangerous. People tailgating and committing other traffic no no's makes it even more so. So next time you see a truck, give them the respect they deserve. Remember they are moving a vehicle that weighs a heck of a lot more than your car does, they can't stop quickly, or start quickly, and they don't have the same vision radius as you do. They rely on their mirrors a lot and if you can't see the mirrors they can't see you. Safety goes both ways.

Actually Nascar drivers were drafting because 2 cars in line can go faster than one by himself, but yes drafting does save gas. I would say that the idea of drafting the semi's comes more from the hypermilers that use drafting, extra high inflations of their tires to gain as milage. The fools will even turn off the ignition when going downhill to save some drops. Whatever the reason the cops need to crack down on it before people end up dead to save gas. I'd even be for the idea of a 60mph speed limit instead.
