A fire put some surrounding homes in danger this morning in East Wichita.

An EMS crew on patrol noticed the fire shortly before 6 a.m.. in the 1100 Blk. of N. Poplar. At the time, they said the house was consumed in flames.

When fire crews arrived, they were forced to pull back when the home's roof collapsed. That caused the fire to spread to another home to the south. Flames melted some siding.

Fire investigators are searching for a cause.
