WICHITA, Kan. — Police are investigating after a 30-year-old man was stabbed in the chest Thursday afternoon outside a northwest Wichita convenience store.
Officers were dispatched to the Presto gas station at 21st and Ridge just after 4:30 p.m. Officers found a man outside the store with a pocket knife stuck in his chest.
The victim told police he stopped at the convenience store to use the restroom. When he came out, he saw two men arguing, one of whom had a gun. During a scuffle, the man was stabbed.
The victim was taken to Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital in serious condition. Sgt. Steve Yarberry said he was alert and able to speak with officers.
Police are searching for the gun, which the victim said was thrown after the scuffle. They are also reviewing surveillance video of the Presto and surrounding businesses. No arrests have been made.
