Car Hits House After Suspect Jumps Out During Police Chase

A suspected gang member is in custody after jumping out of a moving car during a police chase, which then hit a house.

It all started around around 1 a.m. as a Wichita police officer recognized a car belonging to a wanted gang member. Officers tried to stop the car, but a chase ensued with speeds upward of 50 to 60 miles per hour.

In the 1600 block of North Estelle, the suspect jumped from the driver's seat of the moving car, which then hit a house in the neighborhood.

The 22-year-old suspect was taken to an area hospital with a broken ankle and a broken wrist. A 20-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car wasn't hurt.
