Historians will hold the annual Territorial Days celebrating the early years of Kansas this weekend.

Events begin Friday in Lecompton, the only official state capital from 1855 to 1861. The Lecompton Constitution was written in Constitution Hall, sparking a series of events leading to the Civil War.

Visitors this weekend can see the historic structures in Lecompton, as well as see the play, "Bleeding Kansas,'' on Saturday which traces the territorial history leading to statehood.

Included in the cast of characters are John Brown, Senator Jim Lane, and Charles Robinson.
