Wichita, Kan. -- The Kansas Highway Patrol investigated three separate fatal accidents across the state Saturday.
The first accident was reported shortly before 8:30 a.m., about 16 miles north of Liberal on U83. Troopers say a 39-year-old Liberal woman was driving south in a Chevy Tahoe, when she crossed the center line and collided with a northbound Mercedes Benz.
The driver of the Mercedes, 22-year-old Nayeli Gonzalez, was taken to Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, where she was later pronounced dead. A two-year-old boy with Gonzalez was not hurt.
The second accident happened shortly before 2 p.m. on Highway 81 in Ottawa County. Troopers say a 17-year-old girl was driving a Chevy HHR northbound when she lost control and rolled the vehicle.
Both her and her passenger, 18-year-old Reed Ash of Salina, were transported to Salina Regional Medical Center where Reed was pronounced dead.
