Two men are recovering after a rollover crash last night in Pratt County.
It happened around 6:15 p.m. Thursday at SW 20th Avenue just south of SW 50th Street.
According to the Pratt County sheriff, a 2004 Dodge Durango was southbound on SW 20th at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control on a sand patch. The SUV rolled several times and ejected the 22-year-old driver from Coats, who was not wearing a seat belt. He was taken to a Wichita hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
His 28-year-old passenger from Pratt was taken to Pratt Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
The sheriff says speed was a role in the rollover. The passenger told investigators he estimated the driver was going 70 to 80 miles per hour when the accident occurred.
The sheriff said the accident could have been much worse and that both men are very lucky. Alcohol is not suspected.
