The road to recovery is underway in Chapman. Crews spent Friday installing new power lines and removing crushed cars.
As daylight hit, hundreds of Chapman residents returned to what is left of their homes, salvaging what they could.
Crews got to work restoring power to the north portion of town, though the hardest hit areas will be in the dark until at least Wednesday.
Officials said the damage estimate has skyrocketed to over $70 million and they're working as fast as possible. The city has restored the water system, though one of the three water wells was completely destroyed. There has been no estimate on when it will be back up and running.
Officials looked over public buildings and had street signs put back in place to make way for contractors to come in next week.
Officials said they are allowing people to stay in town Friday night if they have a livable home. Everyone else will need to leave by 9:00 p.m. and they will be allowed back in at 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
