A mistrial has been declared in a Wichita murder case.
19-year-old Montrez Washington is charged in the 2007 shooting death of Donyel Bagsby.
The prosecution's star witness, DeMario Cooks, changed his mind about testifying today. During opening arguments, prosecutors told jurors what they expected from Cooks' testimony. Since that testimony never took place, the judge granted a mistrial.
Police said Washington is one of four men who barged into Bagsby's home on North Madison and tried to rob him. Bagsby was shot and killed as the men ran from the home.
No new trial date has been set for Washington. Because Cooks' refusal to testify violated his plea agreement, he also faces trial in the case.
