Federal officials are looking for a computer hacker who downloaded personal information on more than 1,400international students at the University of Kansas.
The information was collected as part of new homeland security measures. The university alerted the INS and FBI after discovering the breach yesterday.
The discovery raised concerns that someone might use the information to enter the U.S. illegally.
The files included Social Security numbers, passport and university ID numbers, and cities and countries of origin.
A KU official said the hacker used the university computer five times since January sixth. She said the hacker previously used the computer to distribute copyrighted movies and pornography.
