It was a night Greensburg residents didn't want to relive, but Friday they found themselves in the direct path of another major tornado. It sent residents into the shelters unsure of what they'd find when they came out.
"There is a tornado headed towards Greensburg... seek shelter," explained Jay Prater, Managing Meteorologist for KAKE News, during Friday's storms.
"I was thinking, 'Oh my gosh, is this going to happen again!' I was scared to death," explained Debbie Adolph, a Greensburg resident.
"We see this rotation, this is going to be another close call for Greensburg," said Prater again during Friday's coverage.
As storms lined up and hammered the state through the weekend, the town that has barely had a chance to start rebuilding after a monster tornado destroyed it last year, found itself facing the unthinkable.
"They sounded the sirens and we headed for the basement," said Adolph.
"It looks like our fears may be realized tonight, as we have another tornado on the ground near Greensburg," said Prater.
With another tornado headed straight for Greensburg, people took shelter hoping somehow it would miss them.
"It was kind of over by Mullinville when we went into the storm shelter," says Avanel Allison, a Greensburg resident. "Then everybody was hoping it would lift."
While the entire storm didn't miss the town, the tornado did, lifting just outside of Greensburg. It was a close call leaving people around town unnerved.
"We were just reliving a year ago," said Adolph.
While people here say they understand storms are just part of Spring in Kansas, they say they're certainly ready for some calmer days.
